In the below video, Jena McGregor discusses with one of the consulting panelists , Andrew Zolli of Z + Partners, on the logic behind choosing the winners. According to Zolli, he defined Influential as "production of durable ideas that define the terms of competition", thus these companies through their action and success define and redefine the rules of the game specific to their verticals. As a result, these 25 aren't necessarily the largest companies (although many of them certainly qualify), they're the ones that everyone is watching and (correctly or not) factoring them in to their competitive execution strategies.
