Is it just me or does it seem like there's an inordinate amount of doomsday movies coming out recently? I'm curious if everything happening with the the War on Terror, the financial crisis, swine flue and everything else is increasing our desire for escapeism, which Hollywood is cashing in on?

I'm participating in a panel discussion on social media today in Hong Kong, sponsored by MRM Worldwide. I've been doing quite a bit of research to understand the risks, rewards and strategies for brands considering social media as part of their marketing mix. Ultimately, I think the discussion is very similar to that of how campaigns become viral. Social media isn't worth much if impressions remain low; but it definitely becomes worth something (good, bad, unsure) once an element of it becomes viral.
My recommendation to brands is to get on Facebook, YouTube and Answers first and see where that takes you. And contrary to others, I do believe it's possible to dip your toe in the water with these platforms if you have the right person in charge of the campaigns. Social media is NOT the end-all-be-all; it's simply another part of the online marketing equation. So take it slow and steady and learn to walk before you consider running.

Just had the pleasure to see this again on TV the other day. Thanks to Hong Kong HBO censoring, every F-bomb was edited out. How can it even be the same movie???? Surprisingly, it was still funny, but not nearly the same thing. Anyways, here are some of the best scenes for your enjoyment.
Sondre Lerche is a critically acclaimed Norwegian musician with a decent fan base, but his big break came when he was asked to score the soundtrack for Dan in Real Life from 2007. I loved the movie and the soundtrack was one of the main reasons. See it if you're a music and/or a Steve Carrell fan. Watch the trailer here.

I saw Bruno while on vacation (which I enjoyed immensely). One of the now famous scenes is where he supposedly sits down with a "terrorist" to ask to be kidnapped in the hopes that it will make him famous. It is pretty funny the way it appears in the movie but I'm disappointed to think that the entire thing was staged and in fact largely invented/edited. It does not take away from the fact that the movie was much more hilarious and offensive than the trailer lets on.
This is a fantastically underrated and hilarious show. As always, Neil Patrick Harris rocks.
